Positioning the sails :

The sails sit below the roof frame so that the roof space can be properly ventilated which means you are not restricted by the layout and arrangement of the glazing bars. The sails can be used individually or in groups and you put them where you need them to control glare and diffuse excessive sunlight. The proper positioning of InShade sails depends solely on your preference and requirements, not the shape or design of your conservatory.

Coverage :

General screening and solar control typically requires coverage of 80%, this will normally require the use of overlapping sails to minimise gaps in the middle of the area you want to shade. Overlapping the sails has the benefit of generating mixed levels of light and shade which creates a very natural feel to the space.

Overlapping sails can be placed directly over each other so there are little or no gaps or the sails can be angled like vanes so that the maximum coverage is only provided from one direction and an open aspect is maintained in the other.

Single sails or small groups provide a focal point and can be positioned to deal with a specific design requirement like gaps between existing natural shade or to provide privacy.

Sail size :

The sails stretch so you will need to select a sail that is smaller than the space you want to fit it in. The price chart includes a guide to the minimum and maximum size for each of our standard sails. The guide is based on a minimum stretch of 10% and a maximum stretch of 30% plus an allowance for the standard fittings. If we don’t have a sail size to match your space then you can try two overlapping sails or have a sail ‘made to measure’ to fit your space.

Adding Colour :

White sails are the most popular and also the most effective at reflecting heat. Adding a little bit of colour can add a lot of drama and impact to your design. So for maximum reflection choose white sails and then add a bold accent sail for a splash of colour.

When heat gain is less of a problem we have a range of more than twenty popular colours. They all come in the sturdy, fade resistant, machine washable fabric that is InShade’s secret to always looking good.

Shape :

InShade sail are designed to be stretched! Have fun with an accent or feature sail by stretching it to the max and creating a dramatic and dynamic focal point.
