How to Guide
FAQs
  • Step 1

The model will open with your selected design shown but with the dimensions set up for someone else’s conservatory. Measure your space and update the dimensions, the model will resize to an exact scale model of your space and adjusts the number of sails to suit. Guides are shown on the model to show you where to measure and you can hide the guides once you have updated all of the dimensions. The price shown at the bottom is now based on the size of your space.

  • Step 2

Now that your model is the correct size you can make some adjustments to the design. You are able to switch between budget(cost), average(cost) and top(cost) to give you a better idea of the range of costs likely to be available for your space. You can also change the overlap between the sails and select partial coverage to remove some of the sails if you don’t want or need to cover all of the roof. The model will update the image and the price after each adjustment – this should only take a few seconds but you may need to be patient if you have a slower internet connection.

  • Step 3

Finally you can select the colour for the sails and the fittings. Duplex colour fabrics and white and gold fittings cost a little more so the price will adjust if you select these options. If your design has accent sails you can select the colour of these as well.

  • Step 4

The bottom of the page shows a summary of your selections and the total self-install cost including delivery and VAT. If you would like to buy this design or talk to one of our designers about an alternative design open the contact us tab at the top of the page. If you would like an installed price you can submit this model and let us know that once we have reviewed the model. On average installation adds around 20% to the price shown.

  • Step 5

Once you are ready to send us your design:

    1. Complete your contact details (providing your house number and postcode is important as it allows us to use google maps to determine how your space is affected by sun throughout the day so that we can make recommendations about your design).
    2. Select the Buy it now button OR Design review option.
    3. Upload a photo showing as much of the inside of the roof as you can.
    4. Press the submit button – Once your design is submitted you will see a thank you message and we will usually be in touch within 48hrs. You will also receive an emailed copy of this submission including a copy of the model and instructions on how to view it.

Using our simple design tool if you create a design that you love then you can save some money by skipping our bespoke design service. We will still check your design to make sure it works and discuss any changes with you that we feel you should consider but if the design you create is good to go then you do not need to pay for our design time and as a result can save some money. We still check everything that you submit to make sure it is correct, and you are still covered by our perfect fit guarantee and our 10-year warranty.

Our designer will use this to orientate your space and to check for shading from other buildings and trees. This will allow us to understand how the sun is affecting the space throughout the day. We can give recommendations or guidance on how the sails should be positioned to maximise their effectiveness once we talk to you about how you want to use the space.

One of our design consultants will review your submission and contact you using the email/phone in the form. They will discuss your design, how you want to use the space and check that this will meet your requirements. They will then run through the next steps and answer any question you have before you place your order. If you want a bespoke solution, they will gather additional information about your requirements and then book time with one of our designers – this is usually at least 48hrs later to allow us to fully understand your space and requirements and generate the initial concept.

Our solar control fabric is 1.85m wide, the maximum stretched sail size we can make from a single width of fabric is 2.1m. If any of your sails are above 2.1m in both directions, then your sail will be made from two or more pieces of fabric joined together. The seam is only 5mm wide, very subtle and is created using colour matched thread. The seam location is always driven by aesthetic considerations and not to minimise the use of fabric. The offcuts of fabric are used to create other products, cut at the same time, so that it is not wasted.

Our standard range of “Solid” range fabric colours are: White, Ivory, Oyster, and Stone. The lighter colours (White, Ivory and Oyster) can be the same colour on both sides without significantly reducing the solar performance. The stone is often used if you want to reduce light levels as darker colours block more light. With Darker and grey based colours, the colour also absorbs part of the heat from the sun rather than reflecting it – this can significantly reduce the solar performance. For these colours we maintain the solar performance by adding colour only to the inside face (the side you see) and leave the side facing the sun white – we call these fabrics “Duplex”. It is more expensive to make Duplex fabric, so this is reflected in the price you pay. Stone is available in both ranges, but the duplex option performs better for heat reflection. If you are interested in one of these colours, then your designer can advise you on the effect this will have on heat reduction in the summer so that you can decide if it is right for you.

All fittings are made from marine grade (316) stainless steel. This is tough, strong, and durable and will never fail. The standard finish, like marine fittings, is polished but it is not supper shiny so is a good match for modern finishes like stain nickel. If you have traditional gold or white fittings you may want to match these, so we add these finishes to the standard fittings, so you get the same quality but with the finish you want, this costs a little more.
